BUS 110 Week 3
This week was a good week. We got to talk about ethics in business. It was really cool for me to learn about how we need to have a direction for our business. We need to have a goal and outlook and an end result that we want to shoot for. Launching Leaders also focused on how we will always be a little off course but we can correct it and realign with that if we take the time to. It's really like having a moral code to help align the pursuit both for the entrepreneur and the business itself. I think all great businesses are known for what they stand for, right? Nike is known for the slogan, “Just do it” which means to strive for great things. Facebook is known for connecting people together, and being a social network. I also really liked the videos that we watched and the videos that talked about how important is to have the right partners. That when we have a partner, we need to be loyal to them. I found it interesting to hear from one of the videos that it was when the entrepreneur separated himself from the moral of being loyal to his partner. That was when he found himself actually kicked out of the company.
In studying for another class I read about how the company and the founder of FedEx knew exactly what he wanted, FedEx to look like as a mature company from the very beginning. He then got everyone else on the team on board with that idea. Then when they all showed up for work, They were showing up to close the gap between what FedEx was at the time and what they wanted FedEx to look like. That is what a true business should be and what an entrepreneur should come in and look at the business and say, “this is what I want the mature version of the business to look like.” Then wake up every morning and say, “how am i going to make that? A reality.”
Thank you for reading
