Entrepreneurial Blog BUS 110 Week 7
This week was an excellent study of the business. We finished our study of Mastery by George Leonard which was a very impactful book. The last couple of chapters of the book was a great crash course on understanding the learning process's pitfalls and how to avoid them. It is important to know that we will have times of less motivation, times when we fall off the bandwagon of working on our goals, times when our subconscious will hold us back, etc. I broke down more of the book in my book report link here. I didn’t cover chapter 12 very much in my book report but it was an impactful chapter that gives a long list of things that can hold us back on our journey. Several I saw in my personal life like Lack of competitiveness, I often find that in my work it can feel like I just need to do it but I don’t find myself not comparing my efforts or results to past efforts or being competitive with others in my industry. I feel like that would help to motivate and encourage me along that path. I also find myself being dead serious. I never thought about how that would be a pitfall before but after reading about it in this book and reflecting in my life I see how my seriousness causes me not to enjoy the process. Along the same lines, I hold myself back often with perfectionism and being held back because I try to make everything perfect before moving forward on a project.
