BUS 110 Week 1
Woohoo, first entrepreneurial class! I’m excited to be on this journey of studying and applying entrepreneurial principles. This week we did some intro work to the course and started completing the course reading. Here are some things I loved and learnd this week.
In the into information for the Start up of you course I was inspired by what it said about how we have entrepreneurship is in our DNA and that as “cave men” or just humans throughout history had to be self starters and be self relient to survive. We must remember this and work to be able to take care of ourselves and others around us which leads me the paper we read entitled Living Life as an Entrepreneurial Hero. It was so impactful to read about how some are called to become heros just like some are called to be entrepreneurs and that that is a calling to serve others. We need to be prepared to be shaped and guided by the experience and grow throw a true journey through difficulty in order to grow and make the most out of live. I am a big believer in the principle that a happy fullfilling life is paved with hardship and challenge and if we avoid that hard work and challenge in we will have a life of “ease” but not fulfilment. I’m excited to commit to that life of endeavor!
Other studying I did this week as listening to the Founders podcast which is a podcast that gives the highlights of the biographies of the most successful founders in history. The episode I listened to was about Henry Ford and the lessons he learned while founding the Ford Motor company. Henry Ford was so inpiring in his commitment to the customer of his product and believed that companies are to serve the world and make it a better place. The ways he did that was to work incredibly hard to simplify the Model T down to only what it needed to be then keep the price low because of that. He appoled the idea of adding a fancy gadget or feature that doesn’t serve the customer just to raise prices. He would also work so hard on the process of creating he product and thus created efficiency with the production line. I loved learning about this and am pondering and looking for ways to do that in my work and just having full commitment to serving the customer of our service. I plan to keep you the reader up to date on this in the coming blog posts.
Thank you for reading.
